Please note, at present, the Cliff of Moher Trail is CLOSED to hikers. You can still visit the Cliff Centre and see the Cliffs, but the hike is not possible. There is the potential that half the hike will be open by mid-2025. We are including a cruise along the base of the Cliffs for this day as standard if the trail remains closed.
This seven-day journey blends the dramatic coastal beauty of the Burren Way with the timeless charm of the Aran Islands, offering an unforgettable exploration of Ireland’s rugged west. Your adventure begins with two nights in Doolin, a lively seaside village known for its traditional music and warm hospitality. From here, you’ll hike along the Cliffs of Moher, one of Ireland’s most iconic landscapes, where towering cliffs drop dramatically into the Atlantic, revealing breathtaking views of the Aran Islands in the distance.
Next, you’ll set sail for Inis Mór, the largest of the Aran Islands, where Gaelic traditions remain strong and ancient stone walls stretch across the wild, windswept terrain. Over two nights, explore the island’s remarkable landscapes, including the prehistoric fort of Dún Aonghasa, perched high above the Atlantic, and enjoy the slower pace of island life, where horse-drawn carts and bicycles remain popular ways to travel.
Returning to the mainland, your final two nights are spent in Ballyvaughan, a charming harbour village nestled at the foot of the Burren’s rolling limestone hills. From Ballinalacken Castle, you’ll embark on a scenic hike through this unique karst landscape, passing historic ruins and hidden caves along the way. A highlight of your time here is the Black Head Loop, a stunning coastal trail offering sweeping views over Galway Bay, the Aran Islands, and Connemara’s distant peaks.
With a perfect balance of scenic hiking, rich history, and local culture, this itinerary showcases the very best of Ireland’s west coast, ensuring an unforgettable journey through two of its most extraordinary landscapes.
