10-Day Self-Guided Dingle Way Hike

Embark on a ten-day exploration of the Dingle Way, beginning in Tralee—the vibrant gateway to County Kerry’s rugged and unspoiled beauty. In Tralee, you’ll be greeted by the warm charm of the locals and the historic streets that set the stage for an epic adventure along Ireland’s western coast. Your journey takes you from inn to inn along well-trodden paths and quiet backroads, where each day unfolds with breathtaking views of rolling hills, rugged mountains, and expansive seascapes, while every stop offers a genuine Irish welcome and a taste of authentic local culture.

From Tralee, you’ll set off on a challenging hike over the Slieve Mish mountains to the serene village of Camp, where the dramatic highland scenery provides a stunning backdrop to your early adventures. Continuing along scenic lanes, your path leads you to Annascaul—famed as the birthplace of Antarctic explorer Tom Crean—where history and heritage blend with the charm of a tight-knit community. The route then guides you to Dingle, a lively harbour town.

A coastal trek from Dingle to Dunquin offers an unforgettable experience as you traverse cliffside paths with panoramic vistas of the Blasket Islands and the mighty Atlantic stretching into the horizon. This leg of your journey is filled with the sound of crashing waves and the fresh scent of sea air, making every step a sensory delight. As you venture northward from Dunquin to Ballydavid and circle the foot of Mount Brandon, you will pass through Gaelic-speaking communities that are steeped in tradition and local lore, offering unique insights into Ireland’s rich cultural heritage.

Next, your route takes you to Cloghane, a picturesque village nestled beneath the dramatic peaks of Mount Brandon, where you can pause to soak in the rugged landscape and perhaps enjoy a quiet moment by the sea. From Cloghane, the trail winds along a beach-fringed landscape toward Castlegregory or Maharees, charming coastal villages that epitomize the serene beauty of Ireland’s western shore. On your final hike, you continue along the stunning coastline back to Camp for your last overnight, where reflections on the journey are shared amid breathtaking sunsets and heartfelt local hospitality.
