Roughly two-thirds of the way to the summit, you’ll encounter the fascinating remains of Caherconree Fort, an ancient promontory fort steeped in local legend. From there, the final push to the peak rewards you with some of the most expansive and unforgettable views in County Kerry. Along the route, you’ll visit the remarkable Killelton Oratory, a well-preserved early Christian site nestled in the hillside, offering a fascinating glimpse into Ireland’s monastic past. As you walk, enjoy sweeping views over Tralee Bay and the surrounding mountains, with plenty of opportunities to pause and take in the beauty of the Dingle Peninsula. The hike finishes in Camp, where you’ll be collected and transferred back to Curraheen, leaving you with both a sense of accomplishment and a deeper connection to this historic corner of County Kerry.

Child Policy: Over 12 years are usually able for these tours. Children must be properly kitted out & capable of the distance. Under 12’s are permitted if capable of this distance, and at parent’s discretion.

Please bring/wear the following items:

  • Good quality comfortable shoes.
  • Good quality waterproof rain jacket and pants.
  • Day rucksack with approx. 500ml of water and a snack that can be enjoyed in the open air.
  • Spare clothing according to weather on the day – warm hat or sun hat, warm gloves or sunscreen, spare socks and an extra top layer.
  • Please note areas can be muddy and wet during these tours.
