8-Day Guide Assisted Kerry Way Hike opens up the Kerry Way Long Distance Hiking Trail situated on the magnificent Ring of Kerry in the south west of Ireland. It starts and finishes in the town of Killarney and is 214kms in total. This holiday brings you to the highlights of the Kerry Way, and each day you have the option to choose between 3 different distances of hiking. During your daily hikes you will have wonderful coastal scenery, magnificent inland routes and a fascinating history along the way. Whether you follow old butter roads or disused stage coach highways you will be enthralled by the beauty & charisma that makes Kerry such a captivating place to hike.

Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrive to Killarney
Starting your holiday in Killarney, you will meet your guide and your other group members (max 8 people) and settle into your first accommodation. Your guide will brief the group on your holiday and the next days hiking options. Enjoy an evening at your leisure with great dining options to suit all tastes.
Day 2 - Killarney to Kenmare
Hiking a short distance to the magnificent Ross Castle, you then take a small boat through the Three Lakes of Killarney to reach an old “hunting” lodge. From here, your hike starts as you follow an old Mass Path, then join an old “droving” road before reaching the heritage town of Kenmare. Overnight in Kenmare and don't miss the opportunity to enjoy some of Ireland's best restaurants.

Total Distances: Route 1: 15km | Route 2: 10km | Route 3: 4km
Day 3 - Kenmare to Sneem
Leaving Kenmare, a lovely hike along the shores of the Kenmare River takes you through ancient villages & old trading routes with wonderful views south across the bay to the Beara Peninsula. Your hike finishes in the beautiful village of Sneem where you stay overnight.

Total Distances: Route 1: 20km | Route 2: 13km
Day 4 - Caherdaniel
Following the coast today, you hike along the southern shores of the Ring of Kerry, following west to reach the lovely village of Caherdaniel. This is a glorious hike which takes you past some wonderful archaeological sites and into Kerry’s Dark Sky Reserve. Transfer to Waterville for 2 overnights there.

Total Distances: Route 1: 17km | Route 2: 12.5km | Route 3: 6.5km
Day 5 - Skelligs Coastline
Continuing around the western tip of the Ring of Kerry, your hike today offers superb views across to the Skellig Islands and Ballinskelligs Bay. The scenery is breath-taking as you follow your route through a nature reserve of ancient woodland and along the coast to Waterville. It’s also a day where you can enjoy a swim if you wish to brave the Atlantic Ocean..!! Return to your accommodation in Waterville.

Total Distances: Route 1: 14.5km | Route 2: 10km | Route 3: 6km
Day 6 - Kells to Glenbeigh
Your hike follows a wonderful old Stage Coach route today, as you hike along the northern shores of the Ring of Kerry, overlooking Dingle Bay. You will pass old ruined villages and Churches as you hike along what was once the main route on this peninsula. Overnight in Glenbeigh.

Total Distances: Route 1: 19km | Route 2: 12km | Route 3: 8km
Day 7 - The Valleys
Your final hike takes you under the shadows of Carrauntohill – Ireland’s highest mountain. This is a stunning inland hike, following along the foothills of the McGillycuddy Reeks mountain range to reach the Black Valley. From here, you will be transferred to Killarney for your final overnight.

Total Distances: Route 1: 18km | Route 2: 11km | Route 3: 7.5km
Day 8 - Depart from Killarney
Your holiday finishes in Killarney after breakfast this morning. From here, you can avail of the excellent bus & train services to all major towns, cities & airports in Ireland.
