The “worlds most popular factual TV show”, Top Gear, visited Kerry this weekend to shoot some footage along the Ring of Kerry and on the Dingle Peninsula. Beginning on Thursday, the whole county was buzzing with the excitement of welcoming Matt Le Blanc & Chris Evans to the Kingdom.

The presenters & the Top Gear team based themselves in Killarney for the weekend and on Friday they visited Kenmare. With Matt travelling in a £300k, convertible, Rolls-Royce Dawn and Chris driving a vintage version, the 1976 Rolls Royce Corniche. As you can imagine, the sight of these beautiful vehicles, and the hosts, driving through the town brought the place to a standstill….

Matt even too the time to pose for pictures with a hen party…..

And when their day filming was over, Matt got to pull his first pint of Guinness in Florry Batts Bar, Kenmare

On Saturday the cast and crew travelled to Dingle to take in the atmosphere, and spectacle, of a Gaelic football match, between Dingle & An Gaeltacht. While there, they asked the spectators to decide on which of their cars were better, with the Corniche coming out on top.

With their day finished, and their work done, Chris shared his thoughts on the roads they had driven and the scenery in Kerry……

The new guise of Top Gear will air in May on BBC in the UK, and on Netflix later in the year. The piece on Kerry will be shown early in the new season.
