We did discover the beautiful region of the County of Kerry (Kerry Ring Tour).Very well organized by IWHB, good communication with the team (good reactivity, and kean to find solutions and open minded, especially when we had to postpone our journey due to the COVID). The hotels/guestrooms very well choosen (good location and guests friendly). Luggage drop off to the next accomodation was a really good option. The infos were correct. We do recommend Ireland Walk Hike Bike and will travel again with them, for sure.

Wonderful trip. Everything was planned perfectly by Ireland WBH. B&Bs were great with Irish breakfast every day to fortify us for the ride. Would love to do another bike trip with them.

Our walk along parts of the Dingle Way and connected trails as organized by Ireland Walk Hike Bike was everything we had hoped for, from extremely courteous and responsive staff to useful links before the trip (including excellent exercise videos!) and a specially-designed GPS app which knew which route we were following as well as where we had gotten to. (While we also used the provided maps and cue sheets, the GPS app in itself would probably have been sufficient.) The B&Bs which we were booked into were all cozy and clean, and our luggage was handled without any problem. I would recommend this outfit (IWBH) – and I have indeed recommended it – to anyone wishing to explore the part of Ireland we encountered. IWBH also deserve credit for holding our deposit for two years of COVID delay; and I’m very glad that we could finally undertake the walk. For what it’s worth, we took the self-guided “comfort” hike, which meant that we would receive taxi rides to favorable trailheads each day. (From what we could tell, we most often avoided flat boring stretches near towns, without sacrificing more remote and interesting parts.)

My husband and I did a self-guided hike through a large part of the Dingle Peninsula to celebrate his 80th birthday. Naturally, we had some concerns about getting lost, having the needed stamina and wanting support along our way. Ireland Walk Hike Bike staff were there for us every step of the way. They chose excellent accommodations at very reasonable prices; taught me how to use the GPS function on my first ever smartphone and arranged transportation to and from Shannon Airport to Tralee. We met so many wonderful folks along our treks who took time from their walk to talk about their lives. It went like clockwork and have toyed with the idea of a repeat adventure if our health permits.

I usually plan vacations months ahead of time but this one came together in just a few short weeks thanks to Ireland Walk Hike Bike. They worked with our rather impromptu and tight time frame to arrange a 6-day outing along the Kerry Way, and we had a magical time from start to finish. The Kerry Way is moody, broody, and incredibly varied. All arrangements were spot on, from accommodation to transport to walking notes. All we had to do was soak up the scenic rambling each day, drink a celebratory Guinness each night, and meet really interesting people along the way. Ireland captured a piece of my heart – will need to go back again with Ireland WHB to retrieve it!

Itinerary

Day 1 - Killarney
Arrive in Killarney and check into your B&B. If you have time take the short circular cycle to Muckross House and Killarney National Park and then back to Killarney for your overnight stop. If you arrive before 3pm one of our team will meet you and do a holiday briefing to ensure you are comfortable with the information we have provide and answer any questions you may have. If after 3pm this meeting will take place on the morning of day 2

Total Distance: 20km | Elevation Gain: 200m
Day 2 - Killarney to Kenmare
Today you cycle out of Killarney following a cycle path through the Killarney National Park which brings you to a quite country road. This road brings you to the iconic Gap of Dunloe which is one of the highlights of your cycle tour. With jagged rock walls rising above you as you wind between glistening lakes this is a majestic place to experience. From here you descend into the Black Valley and have a marvellous ride through some remote countryside with nothing but sheep for company. You will climb up out of the valley before a nice descent into the beautiful town of Kenmare.

Total Distance: 48km | Elevation Gain: 597m
Day 3 - Kenmare to Lauragh including Gleninchaquinn Nature Park
Leaving Kenmare across what was Irelands first suspension but thankfully it has been upgraded since the 1800s! Taking the road that hugs the coast of Kenmare Bay you have beautiful views across the water before you turn inland and follow a country lane that winds into Gleninchaquinn valley where you have the option to visit the ancient Uragh Stone Circle which offers sensational views of the lakes which lie in the valley. You continue along this road to reach Gleninchaquinn Nature Park where you can choose from a number of walking route in the park and view the cascading waters of the beautiful waterfall which is the centrepiece of the park. (there is a small entrance fee for the park). You leave the valley by the same road and take another winding coastal road which will lead you to the sleepy village of Lauragh where you will stay overnight

Total Distance: 43km | Elevation Gain: 424m
Day 4 - Lauragh to Allihies
Continuing along the northern shores your cycle today takes you through the picturesque village of Eyeries famous for its colourful houses. From there you continue to Allihies – once home to a thriving copper mining industry.

Total Distance: 48km | Elevation Gain: 730m
Day 5 - Allihies to Castletownbere
Today you are spoilt for choice, but our recommendation takes you further west to Dursey Sound. If you wish a trip to the glorious Dursey Island, just at the very tip of the Beara Peninsula is well worthwhile … crossing over on Ireland’s only Cable Car service. This is a step back in time and gives you an opportunity to walk “West” to the end of land!! Back on the mainland – you continue cycling east to finish in the fishing port of Castletownbere.

Total Distance: 35km | Elevation Gain: 491m
Day 6 - Castletownbere to Glengarriff
Today you have the option to take your bike over to Bere Island for a cycle around this beautiful place adding 14kms onto your day. From Castletownbere you then cycle east through Adrigole hugging the coastline before you finish your cycle in the quaint village of Glengarriff.

Total Distance: 35km | Elevation Gain: 500m
Day 7 - Glengarriff to Kenmare
This stunning inland route brings you through rugged countryside which this region is know for. With stunning mountains and valleys in all directions you are never far from another impressive vista. You will meander along quite country roads with some good uphill sections before descending to the riverside route which will take you into the town of Kenmare.

Total Distance: 33km | Elevation Gain: 482m
Day 8 - Kenmare
Today you finish your tour with us. Enjoy a final delicious breakfast before you make your onward journey.
